Another weekend of ups and downs for our Mexicans Abroad. Let’s break it down with an episode of “The Good, The Bad, and The Meh.”
The Good
- Edson Alvarez started his 7th game in Ajax’s last 8 games. He seems to be growing more and more as the minutes pile up for him. He seemed more involved in the final third than I have seen from him this season.
- Gerardo Arteaga got in the assist party as well. Getting his 3rd assist in his 9th start of the season. The Santos product is seeing his playing time climb as the club is trying to hold on to their playoff spot. A player he was competing with for playing time has been sold and he now has an opportunity to cement his spot in the starting 11.
- I present to you Omar Govea and his 6th assist this season. A beautiful through ball for the game winner. I know many have not seen him this season but he is really breaking out in Belgium and this weekend was another reason as to why he should play a role with Mexico during a busy summer.
The Bad
- I had high hopes when I saw Erick Gutierrez get the start for PSV but those did not last long. His first start this season only last 45 minutes with his manager subbing him off at halftime. All of PSV struggled in the first half but Guti did not do himself any favors. He was lucky not to get called for a PK near the end of his shift.
- Remember when Gattuso relegated Chucky to spot duty? Napoli minus Hirving Lozano =
The LOL
- Nice kick save…. by the ref??? Never change LigaMX.
