Ojogo is reporting that Sevilla will be using their €6mil option on Miguel Layun, Their loan deal with Porto was structured so there was 2 buy options. If exercised by 4/30, the option was €5mil if used afterwards, the cost will be around €6mil. This would end an up and down season for Layun on a high note.
Layun’s influence at Porto had waned in recent seasons. He had 27 league starts in his first season in Portugal but only 15 in the last season and a half. Only 3 of which came this season. Since his loan in January, Layun has played all over the field for Sevilla and accumulated 11 La Liga starts in his 4 months there. He has seen just as much time as an attacking midfielder as a fullback. Miguel will be turning 30 during the upcoming World Cup and Sevilla would be a good spot for the rest of his European career. They qualified for Europa League qualifying and should see themselves into the group stage. Mexico fans will like the move as he will definitely see the field more in Sevilla than Porto and will be in a better league.
