Transfer season is upon us. I will try to corral some of the rumors involving Mexican players. As with any rumor roundup, proceed with caution.  Lets dive in…

Jesus “Tecatito” Corona: He has long been rumored to be leaving his cash strapped club,  FC Twente, but things have changed. The club have sold a few other players this offseason and are said to be in much better financial shape. They are no longer forced to sell their prized asset, Tecatito. His agent has said the club is keen to keep him this season. But he did concede that talks did occur with PSV and other clubs. Although PSV was always his rumored destination, even Manchester City got thrown into his list of possible destinations

Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez: The rumor mill has been working overtime since Real Madrid declined their buy option. The rumors have him going to: Liverpool, MLS, West Ham, AC Milan, Lazio, and Wolfsburg. The latest team to jump in is Monaco, who need a striker after loaning out Falcao to Chelsea.

Guillermo Ochoa: Memo was one of the hotter players at last year’s World Cup. He was out of contract and free to sign with any club he wanted, unfortunately, it still did not work out for him. He signed with Malaga but was resigned to playing in Copa del Rey matches. After a rough time in Spain, he might be in line to return to France with Toulouse. Wages are said to be the biggest hurdle.

Hector Moreno: The injury bug has struck at another terrible time for Hector. All signs pointed to him leaving Espanyol last summer after a solid World Cup performance but he suffered a long term injury and those offers never materialized. AC Milan seem to be his likely destination if he moves this summer. His injury is not nearly as bad as last summer but we will wait and see if other rumored clubs (Southampton, Arsenal, Tottenham) join the battle for his signature.

Carlos Vela:  Carlitos has found a home at Real Sociedad but that does not mean bigger clubs will not come for him. Marca is reporting West Ham and Wolfsburg are willing to pay his release clause but Vela has declined their advances.

Gio Dos Santos: The only certainty from all the rumors is Villarreal wants to sell Gio. Apparently MLS is very keen to the move and the Galaxy are willing to make him the highest paid Mexican player at a rumored salary of $9 million. Gio has admitted the Galaxy are interested in him but did not commit to coming stateside just yet.

Jona Dos Santos: Monterrey was interested but that was the extent of their effort to bring Jona to Mexico. Although Jona would like to play in his preferred central position, no offers have come in for him yet. Villarreal are not actively shopping him like they are Gio.

Raul Jimenez: Although Raul is happy at Atletico, rumors continue to swirl over his future with Cholo’s side. Porto keeps popping up with the Portuguese side wanting to include him in the Jackson Martinez deal. Jimenez prefers to stay in Spain but Monaco have allegedly offered to buy him outright. It seems half of La Liga would not mind having him on a season long loan.

Diego Reyes: Similar to Raul, Reyes did not see the field much and a loan move might be the best for him as well. He could be teammates with Carlos Vela if Real Sociedad have their way. Another club mentioned is Guardado’s club, PSV. All signs point to Porto letting Reyes go out on loan to get more match experience.
